Assemblyman Clyde Vanel (D-Queens Village) who represents District 33 (Cambria Heights, St. Albans, Hollis, Queens Village, Bellerose and parts of Floral Park), is exploring a run for the state Attorney General’s Office.

His announcement comes after Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James declared on Oct. 28 that she will campaign for the Governor’s Office, now held by Gov. Hochul, who was sworn in after ousted Gov. Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment earlier this year.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is temporarily ceasing preparatory work on the controversial $2.1 billion LaGuardia Airport AirTrain project.

“At Governor Hochul’s request, the Port Authority is undertaking a thorough review of potential alternative mass transit options to LaGuardia Airport,” the agency said in a press release Tuesday afternoon. “The agency will work in close consultation with independent experts and stakeholders, and will complete its work as expeditiously as possible, consistent with the need for the review to be thorough and rigorous. During the review, the Port Authority will pause further action with respect to the LaGuardia AirTrain project.”

Gov. Cuomo is stepping down from office, but Assemblymember Ron Kim (D-Flushing) wants justice for the thousands of victims the governor left in his wake.

“It’s clear to me that resignation or impeachment does not equate to accountability,” the Queens official told the Chronicle in an Aug. 9 interview, just one day before Cuomo finally stepped down.

JetBlue Airways intends to keep its corporate headquarters in Long Island City and plans to add 1,800 jobs at New York City regional airports, on top of the more than 7,000 existing ones statewide.

Company and elected officials on Tuesday morning confirmed a story first published by the Chronicle Monday night which said the airline wants to stay in the Brewster Building at 27-01 Queens Plaza North, where 1,300 employees work.

Gov. Cuomo said Thursday that Janno Lieber will serve as acting board chair and CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, effective July 31, while legislation to appoint outgoing New York City Transit Interim President Sarah Feinberg’s nomination as the chair awaits approval from the state Senate.

Legislation already passed by the Assembly would split the role of MTA board chair and CEO. The dual roles have been filled for the past four years by Patrick Foye, who will leave the MTA July 30 and become the interim president and CEO of the Empire State Development Corp.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday approved the environmental review of the proposed AirTrain project from Willets Point to LaGuardia Airport.

The approval appears to clear the way for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to build the elevated rail line.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on June 22 signed a ground lease through 2050 with Aeroterm, one of the leading providers of capital- and facility-related services to airports in North America, to expand its cargo business at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The new facility will handle millions of cargo through the airport at a 350,000-square-foot, $145 million state-of-the-art space, which will be on more than 26 acres at JFK, according to the Port Authority. The project marks the first update to the cargo area in 20 years.
