A pair of 15-year-old students from Metropolitan Campus High School have been arrested and charged with criminal mischief in connection with trashing the CVS at 97-15 Metropolitan Ave. in late September, according to Capt. Jonathan Cermeli, commanding officer of the 112th Precinct.

He said more arrests are pending and the situation is still under investigation. Cermeli estimated the damage at $2,000 to $3,000.

Cermeli said a supposed fight in the area never materialized but attracted a large crowd of students.

“The kids were just, mob mentality, like a bunch of kids just running around,” he said.

The students went to CVS and became mischievous, messing around and throwing things off shelves. The drugstore is diagonally across the street from the school.

“It became a problem and by the time we got there the crowd had dispersed,” Cermeli said.

After reviewing video, the precinct’s detective squad was able to make some identifications, he said.

The Department of Health and CVS did not immediately respond to a request to comment. A person who answered the phone at the school Monday told the Chronicle the principal had left for the day.

They should round up the kids who participated, make their parents reimburse CVS for the cost of the damage done and make the kids do more than a few hours of community service. Actions have consequences.
