The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a man wanted for a saucy robbery from a Jackson Heights grocery store on July 20.

Police in the 115th Precinct said the incident took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. when a man entered the basement of Food Universe at 75-55 31 Avenue.

Once inside he allegedly helped himself to approximately 10 jars of tomato sauce and attempted to flee.

But outside the building he was challenged by a security guard. The man then allegedly pulled out a pipe wrench and struck the guard on one arm.

Police said the guard refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his mid-30s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1 (888) 57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit tips by logging onto nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.

All tips are strictly confidential.
