A baby seal, estimated by Park Rangers to be about three to four months old, found itself stranded near the Bayside Marina on Sunday, drawing a crowd throughout the day.

The Parks Department taped off the area closest to the animal after it was discovered early in the morning.

The seal became stranded after the tide went out and the baby was left on a 100-foot strip of land.

Throughout the day the seal made short strides trying to get back to the water. By 7:30 p.m. the young tyke had returned to Little Neck Bay, into the waiting flippers of its mother.

Welcome to the discussion.
