Grow NYC’s Flushing Greenmarket at Maple Playground is back.
Since its July 5 launch, the vendor will be there on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Nov. 22, the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce announced last week. This year is the second that the greenmarket has come to the space at 136-50 Maple Ave.
The market features fresh food from farms in the greater New York City area. Vegetables from Orange County’s R & G Produce will be featured at the greenmarket this season. Knoll Krest Farm and Breezy Hill Orchards from Dutchess County will also be there. The former will sell baked goods, pasta, soups and eggs; the latter will sell cider, apples, baked goods and pears. Lani’s Farm from New Jersey’s Burlington County will also be selling vegetables.
Every week, the Health Department’s Stellar Farmers’ Markets will be at the market to lead cooking demonstrations in Chinese, Spanish and English and provide nutritional education to shoppers.
FMNP and WIC checks will be accepted at individual food stands; debit, credit, EBT and SNAP will be accepted at the greenmarket’s information tent.
