Free English classes in Flushing

The Flushing Jewish Community Council is sponsoring free, ongoing classes for residents.

It has a new location for its Intermediate English conversation class, which will continue on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. in the McGoldrick Library at 155-06 Roosevelt Ave. That’s also where the English as a Second Language/Civics class will start Monday, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m.

The Intermediate/Advanced English class will return Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. in the East Flushing Library, 196-36 Northern Blvd.

An Intermediate English Conversation class starts Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 6:15 p.m. at at the International Buddhist Progress Society, 154-37 Barclay Avenue.

Other services include a monthly food pantry continuing September 24 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Temple Beth Sholom in Flushing at 171-39 Northern Blvd., as well as individual, couple, family and group counseling in a variety of languages at various locations in Queens and on Long Island.
