In August, Mayor de Blasio’s re-election campaign shot out a press release showing that a high number of Queens lawmakers — including Councilmen Peter Koo (D-Flushing) and Paul Vallone (D-Bayside) — endorsed Hizzoner for re-election.

But a New York Post story from last week reported that both of the north Queens councilmen said they had not endorsed de Blasio. The tabloid noted that the summer press release said both had.

According to Koo’s camp, the blurb about him in the Post story arose from a “misunderstanding” because the Flushing politician thought the reporter who interviewed him asked about a specific event where he would have endorsed the mayor.

“Councilman Koo has already endorsed the Mayor,” the campaign said. “Nothing has changed.”

The Vallone campaign did not return a request for comment. Berlin Rosen, the public relations firm that sent out the de Blasio campaign press release from August, acknowledged a Chronicle inquiry but did not follow up and give a comment.
