The Bayside Hills Civic Association will host a general meeting on Tuesday, June 25 at 8 p.m. in the basement auditorium at the Colonial Church of Bayside at 54-02 217 St.

The group will discuss the long-awaited revitalization of the Captain Dermody Triangle at 48th Avenue and 216th Street and the latest plan for the Bell Boulevard mall.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Jerry Iannece will discuss the history of the triangle and state Sen. John Liu (D-Bayside) will also be discussing it. Additionally, City Councilman Barry Grodenchik (D-Oakland Gardens) will give an update about the Bell malls. The 111th Precinct is also expected to give an update about crime in the area.

The meeting will also have food and clothing drives, delicious refreshments and a 50/50 raffle.

The triangle was named for William Dermody, who died fighting for the Union in the Civil War.

The civic association, which is led by Bayside Hills resident Michael Feiner, was founded in 1936.

Welcome to the discussion.
