With video: Bystander shot in Jamaica

Police are saying a 76-year-old woman was the unintended victim of a gunshot fired at a group of men in Jamaica last Friday night.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the alleged gunman.

According to police the incident took place at about 10:35 p.m. in front of 117-17 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. when an unidentified man displayed a firearm and fired one shot at a group of men. He then fled in an unknown direction.

Police said the victim was sitting in her car at the time and suffered a gunshot wound to the back of her neck.

She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she was reported in stable condition.

The shooting suspect is described at a black male with a dark complexion, a thing build and curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, white Nike sneakers and black jeans.
