State and city officials were on hand recently when the Jean Nuzzi School IS 109 in Queens Village cut the ribbon on a new science lab.

Principal Karleen Adam-Comrie, her students and staff welcomed State sen. Leroy Comrie, City Councilman Barry Grodenchik and Assemblyman Clyde Vanel.

The lab, which is geared toward increasing the teaching of science, technology engineering and math, or STEM eduction initiatives, was constructed in a classroom that had fallen into disrepair and had not been in use for several years.

Sen. Comrie lauded Principal Adam-Comrie and Grodenchik for the success.

Welcome to the discussion.
