Meeks at millennial mixer 1

U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks, second from left, recently attended a Millennial Mixer at the Pa-Nash restaurant in Rosedale, an event set up to foster communication and dialogue among young adults living and working in Southeast Queens and in Meeks’ 5th Congressional District.

The event was set up by community activist and resident James Johnson. Approximately 200 people were in attendance.

Among the topics of conversation — and of increasingly concerned interest among those in the age group — were the long-term opportunities for home ownership, the ability of established neighborhood residents to afford to stay in their homes and student loan debt.

Meeks also discussed a number of major projects under way in and planned for the district, including the $13 billion plan to redesign John F. Kennedy International Airport and practically rebuild it from the tarmac to the control tower.
