A 31-year-old Jamaica man has pleaded guilty to promoting child sexual abuse and possessing almost 6,000 images of children being molested, Acting District Attorney John Ryan announced Thursday.

The defendant, Vishal Lalbeharry of 95th Avenue, also copped to charges that he had sex with a dog, an act that was recorded and found with his cache of vile images on his electronic devices.

Lalbeharry is expected to get two years in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision when sentenced Dec. 11. He also faces a lifetime on the sex offender registry.

He downloaded thousands of photos and videos of children — some as young as 6 months old — being abused by adults, both men and women.

Late on Wednesday night, Lalbeharry pleaded guilty to 17,725 charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child as a sexually-motivate felony, promoting a sexual performance by a child, possessing a sexual performance by a child and sexual misconduct.

“This defendant has now admitted to having a horrid collection of downloaded images of children — including little babies — being defiled in the most horrific and sickening ways,” Ryan said in a prepared statement. “The images accumulated by this defendant contained some of the most heinous abuse imaginable.”

A detective conducting an online investigation in March 2018 used an internet investigative tool to detect IP addresses that were sharing child sexual abuse images. The software identified Lalbeharry’s computer address as having downloaded 1,150 files containing images of children being sexually abused. Some of the photos showed babies actually being penetrated anally and vaginally by adult men.

His computer was active on a network that downloaded as many as 10,240 files, most of which are photos and videos of children — none older than 10 years old — being sexually abused.

According to court records, police seized four computer laptops, four cell phones and five hard drives from the defendant’s bedroom. They showed thousands of images of children and 16 videos of the defendant having sex with a dog.
