The annual We Can Because We Can Community Parade brought out crowds in Cambria Heights on Oct. 19. Founded in the 1980s by the late Assemblywoman Barbara Clark, it centers around the communities from and surrounding the old Andrew Jackson High School and its new incarnation, Campus Magnet School.

At top right, the honored grand marshals included Thomas Butch Clark, left, an alumnus; entertainer and alumnus Shiggy, second from right, and area businesswoman Debra Hammond, far right, along with parade organizers Joann Linning and her son, James Johnson.

The supporters and sponsors for the parade are The Nu Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., James Johnson, Joann Linning, Agape Bethel Community Development Corporation, Andrew Jackson Alumnus, Royal Waste Services Inc., PTG365 LLC, Pa-Nash EurolSoul, Tracy & Malik Bus Co. and Resorts World Casino.
