A Long Island man was killed early Monday morning in a single-car crash on Woodhaven Boulevard at the Rego Park-Middle Village border.
According to authorities, 56-year-old Freeport, LI, resident Joseph Debrosse was driving northbound at approximately 3:30 a.m. when he somehow lost control of his vehicle.
He then careened into a utility pole — severely damaging the driver’s side of the vehicle — at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and Alderton Street, with his car coming to a rest at the roadway’s intersection with Eliot Avenue.
Upon their arrival, emergency medical technicians discovered Debrosse unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from trauma across his body.
He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. It is unclear what caused the accident, and authorities said an investigation is ongoing.
The northbound lanes of Woodhaven Boulevard were briefly closed after the crash but reopened a short time later Monday morning.
