Clockwise from top right, American Legion Continental Post 1424, where Sunday’s Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade began; the Sunnyside Drum Corps and All-City Marching Band provide the soundtrack for the afternoon commemoration; the Forest Hills Asian Association marches down Metropolitan Avenue; Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa and Capt. Jonathan Cermeli, commanding officer of the 112th Precinct, pose for a picture before the start of the parade; three wreaths are driven past neighborhood staples Eddie’s Sweet Shop and Cinemart Cinemas; Boy Scout Troop 349 walks in the parade; Grand Marshals Susan Browning and Eileen Gillespie with a wreath; Old Glory is displayed through Forest Hills as a crowd watches; and Girl Scouts Troop 4413 participates.

Browning is executive director of Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Forest Hills and Gillespie is a United States Army Nurse Corps officer, veteran and reservist.
