Five things to do in Queens this weekend!

There are but two weeks to go before Labor Day weekend! Here are just five late-summer activities Queens is offering this weekend — maybe one or more are just what you were looking for as the season winds down.

The 14th annual Jamaica Bay Shorebird Festival flies into town Saturday, with hours of activities including hikes, lectures by experts, kids programs and more, all about shorebirds. The event is being held in partnership with NYC Audubon, the American Littoral Society and several other co-sponsoring groups. It runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Center, located at 175-10 Cross Bay Blvd. in Broad Channel. Attendance is free. See our story previewing the event here. Saturday also brings the Arbitration Rock Battle of the Boroughs, a festival focused on the boulder marking the Queens-Brooklyn border, where Bushwick meets Ridgewood. Attendees will enjoy history, food, drinks, a tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest, trivia, a baby crawl, arts and crafts and more. The festival runs from 12 to 6 p.m. at the historic Onderdonk House, at 1820 Flushing Ave. in Ridgewood. Entry is $5; or free for anyone under 19. Info: (718) 456-1776, onderdonkhouse.org

This is the last weekend to see “Shrek The Musical,” the fairy tale about a beloved ogre with abandonment issues, his friend Donkey and their quest to save a princess, as performed by the St. Gregory’s Theatre Group. Shows are tonight, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The venue is the St. Gregory the Great Church, located at 242-20 88 Ave. in Bellerose. Sunday’s Music in the Garden concert will be performed by People of Earth, a world music ensemble that seeks to blur the lines between genres of different regions. The members represent at least eight nationalities and hope to facilitate dialogue, create cultural connections and spread joy through their music. The show runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Queens Botanical Garden, sitting pretty at 43-50 Main St. in Flushing. Did you say free pizza? Yes we did! To celebrate its fifth anniversary in business and thank the community for its support, the Therapeutic Cuts barbershop in Rego Park is holding a pizza party, with slices, soft drinks and a live DJ.
