Five things to do in #Queens this weekend! June 14-16

It’s the final weekend of spring, and perhaps you’re wondering, what do I do with my free time before the summer solstice arrives on June 21? If so, check out our handy list of “Five things to do in Queens this weekend!”

You can see the Woodside Players of Queens Summer Play Festival, with various short plays being performed. The shows run from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Long Island City Library, located at 37-44 21 St. Attending is free. Info: (631) 898-4205, pineyforkpress.com.

Saturday also brings us Flea Market & Fun Day, with various items, food and beverages from more than 35 vendors for sale and fun activities for kids. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ridgewood Library, at 20-12 Madison St. Info: (718) 821-4770.

Those looking for new furry friends can check out the 12th annual pet adoption fair being held by the Richmond Hill Block Association. Free supplies will be given to each adopter and donations of blankets and/or funds will be accepted for the ASPCA, Animal Care Centers of NYC and Heavenly Angels Rescue welcome. The event will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Forest Park Buddy Monument Plaza, at Park Lane South and Myrtle Ave. Info: (718) 849-3759.

You can see “Garrett’s Gift,” the 2007 animated film narrated by Queen Latifah about African-American innovator Garrett Morgan, who was born to slaves but ended up inventing one type of traffic signal. It’s showing at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lewis H. Latimer House Museum, at 34-41 137 St. in Flushing. Attending is free. Info: (718) 961-8585, latimernow.org.

The Queens Botanical Garden Music in the Garden series on Sunday is featuring The Ladybugs Jazz Band, with lead singers Vanessa Perea and Martina DaSilva, above, and their group performing classic favorites and more. The show runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the QBG, located at 43-50 Main St., Flushing. It’s free with admission: $6; or $4 for seniors and students; and $2 children over 3.
