Article says "Under a new Department of Education proposal, STEM students now at PS 85 will attend K-4 at PS 17 at 28-37 29 St. and then continue 6-8, under the direction of the same principal, at IS 126 at 31-51 21 St. The administration will split its time between the two facilities." This is not the case of the new proposal---To the dismay of the parents, STEM students now at PS85 will NOT be allowed to transition to the new school they all fought for. Only upon middle school will current STEM students be allowed to transition to PS126. In the meantime, the STEM citywide G&T program will phase-out at PS85. Current STEM students will remain at PS85 at this phase-out program. None of our children, except the current 4th graders, will ever set foot in PS17. We have urged the DOE/PEP to consider a number of parent-resesarched alternatives.Jun 18, 2013
