It would be helpful if you would include a map of the new Q33 route, since the description of the changes does not include the entire route. It used to run along 81st Street from Roosevelt Avenue to Astoria Blvd, where it entered LaGuardia Airport. Now it terminates [turns around to go back] at 95th Street and Astoria Blvd. How does it get there ? Will it still stop at 81st St. and Astoria Blvd [82nd St. and Astoria Blvd on the way back] ? That is where I used to transfer to the bus to 125th St. in Manhattan, that runs over the Triborough Bridge. Would I now have to take a third bus between 95th Street and 82nd Street along Astoria Blvd to accomplish this trip, making it a two-fare trip ? Is there even a bus that goes along Astoria Blvd from the low 80s to 95th Street ?Sep 7, 2013
It is unlikely that the police officer knew that Raffaele is a judge. The outrage is not that a judge was assaulted, but that any innocent bystander [or even a suspect or arrestee, given the nature of this assault] was so victimized by police. Almost as outrageous as the assault itself was the apparent coverup of the incident by a police sergeant who was present on the scene. The fact of the victim being a judge [along with the very mild temperament for which Judge Raffaele has long been known, for many years before he became a judge and continuing during his time on the bench] lends very high credibility to his account of the incident, which should make it extremely difficult for the police to bury this incident or its implications. Many of us have been the victims of more subtle forms of abuse or neglect by police, although my own experiences with the 115th precinct have been uniformly positive [not so in the days when Jackson Heights fell under the jurisdiction of the 110th precinct, many years ago.] I hope this is not an indication of the deterioration of the police "culture" in our neighborhood, and is just an isolated incident, especially since it seems to be so extreme and unprovoked.Jun 8, 2012
