    Queens College’s 88th commencement will be held on the Flushing campus quad at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 with more than 2,500 degrees to be handed out.

    The graduation speaker will be Howie Rose, the radio voice of the Mets and the TV announcer for the Islanders. A 1977 graduate of Queens College, Rose was born in Brooklyn but grew up in Bayside, where he attended Benjamin Cardozo High School.

    Some 27 percent of people over the age of 65 have no remaining teeth, according to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. The average person in that age group, however, has about 19 pearly whites left.

Hearing the bad news that a tooth has to be pulled out or having to pay a high out-of-pocket expense turn many people off from even visiting one to get their teeth checked. CitiDental, an emergency and general dental practice in Ozone Park, is hoping to change that image.

    Eli Schmidt, the general manager of CitiDental, took the assignment after he replaced the previous management a year ago. He set out to tweak all the wrongs, including pricing and customer service.
