Twenty-four hours of non-stop theater. That’s what LaGuardia Community College’s performing arts center is offering up this weekend.
The performing arts center and its resident theater company, the Internationalists, are hosting the 24-hour marathon art event beginning at 3 p.m. on Nov. 7 and ending at the same time on Nov. 8.
Live performances from an array of groups will be staged every hour, and the event will be streamed live in multiple venues around the world. Performers and guests will also be able to watch performances taking place on European stages via the Internet. Online chats and panel discussions will also take place.
Featured performances include acclaimed Romanian playwright Peca Stefan, who will stage his newest work; Puerto Rican performer Nancy Millan, who will present a solo musical theater performance; and a staged reading of Turkish playwright Ozen Yula’s recently translated work,“For Rent.”
LaGuardia students and faculty will also take the stage to perform original music, dance and theatrical pieces.
The event will be held in the college’s E-building at 31-10 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City.
Tickets are $24 for general admission and $12 for midnight shows. To purchase tickets, contact the box office at (718) 482-5151 or visit laguardiaperformingarts.com.
