For the rest of October the folks at the Queens Library will be hosting a variety of “Halloween Spectacular” events around the borough.

At “Halloween Crafts,” children are invited to make different Halloween-themed paper decorations to kick off the library’s “Spooktacular Halloween.” Some of these crafts will include paper jack-o-lanterns, bat banners, trick-or-treat paint art and much more.

The craft time will be held on Oct. 24 and 25 at the Fresh Meadows and Windsor Park libraries. Other locations include LeFrak City, Peninsula and the Queens Central Library, all being held on Oct. 30 and 31.

Another Halloween happening at the Corona Library only is a face-painting class being taught in Spanish, which is designed to help parents “become an expert” in “fantasy makeup, hair styles, and fingernail decorations.” The parents will use a nontoxic water-based paint for the unearthly things they will create.

The event will be held on Oct. 19 and 26 at 5 p.m. Preregistration is required and must be done in person at the library prior to the start of the class using a library card. The Corona branch is located at 38-23 104 St. The program is limited to 30 people.

Next the Queens Library at Flushing, located at 41-17 Main St., is having a Halloween parade, wherein the kids can dress up in costumes like Disney princesses, baby pumpkins and pirates, and parade around the plaza of the library.

Joanne King, the library’s director of communications, explained that the parade is a way that the kids can dress up and show off their costumes while the parents can feel at ease without the worry of the kids going door-to-door.

“It’s a way to keep safe and enjoy themselves at the library, she said. “It’s a place where they can have a good time.”

Lastly, the “Halloween Party” is a main attraction that offers kids a fun, spooky night at the Seaside Library, located at 116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd in Rockaway. It will be held at 4 p.m on Halloween.

Children ages 4 and above are welcome. Guests are asked to come in costume and to bring packaged food and drinks.
