In the '90's I was fortunate enough to live in the Alley Pond Co-op. I recall that one Sunday afternoon in 1995(?) many emergency vehicles converged on Union Tpke & the GCP. I couldn't see much from the living room window so I tuned my radio to News Radio 88 which informed me that a light aircraft had crash landed on the Cleraview Expressway at the GCP/Union Tpke/Clearview junction. The pilot had wa;lked away & no injuries were reported but it really interupted a quiet Sunday afternoon in my Bayside neighborhood.
