Exhibits

Gateway National Recreation Area’s Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge will host the artwork of artist Lois Stiene now through Oct. 27. The show, entitled Refuge on Canvas, features oil paintings inspired by the park’s landscapes through the seasons. The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is located on Crossbay Blvd., 1-1/2 miles south of the North Channel Bridge in Broad Channel.

The Louis Armstrong Archives exhibit, “And the Award Goes To,” will be displayed now through Dec. 2 at Queens College Benjamin S. Rosenthal Library, Room 332, 65-30 Kissena Blvd., Flushing Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm. The exhibit examines the broad range of awards granted to Louis Armstrong throughout and after his lifetime. An art exhibition of works created in response to the Sept. 11 terror attacks will be on display at LaGuardia Community College now through Nov. 11 in the college’s E Building, 31-10 Thomson Ave., LIC. For information, call 482-5060.

St. John’s University Department of Fine Arts presents an exhibition entitled “Two Illustrators: Randy Jones & Istvan Orosz,” an exhibition of children’s book illustration and graphic poster art, now through Oct. 25 at the Sun Yat-Sen Hall Chung-Cheng Art Gallery on the Queens campus, 80-00 Utopia Pkwy., Jamaica.

Rehearsals

Music

Parker Community Health Center, One Delaware Drive, Lake Success (at the Nassau-Queens border), will hold a lecture on “Living with Diabetes,” on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 6:30 to 8pm.
