Like most New Yorkers I am in favor of diversity, if applied fairly. The FDNY developed, over the years, a test to determine eligibility to become a firefighter. However, according to the Vulcan Society, the written test was unfair to minorities, particularly blacks and Latinos.
What has never been discussed is what were those test questions that were deemed discriminatory?
This newspaper could do us all a favor by printing some of those “discriminating” test questions so that, as concerned citizens, we could then make up our own minds.
