Dear Editor:
(An open letter to the New York Congressional delegation)
I call upon you to join Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, in calling on Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Tex.), the chairman, to hold hearings on U.S. District Court Judge Richard Cebull of Montana.
Judge Cebull is being accused of gross misconduct, as well as violating five canons of the judicial code of ethics.
Many newspapers, including The New York Times, as well as thousands of citizens, are calling for Judge Cebull to resign. Congress should investigate this serious matter.
Editor’s note: Judge Cebull recently forwarded a vulgar, racist and sexist email joke about the president to several people. He later apologized and asked the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to investigate him for
possible misconduct.
