While the U.S. and Russia are in continued sharp disagreement over how to deal with the Syrian crisis, there is another issue that is also very important — continued reduction of nuclear weapons.
Both countries still have large quantities of nuclear weapons and it is very critical for those weapons to be reduced significantly and eventually disabled. Russia and the U.S. have nearly two-thirds of the world’s nuclear weapons and there is always the possibility of an accidental trigger which could start a nuclear war.
President Putin and President Obama need to work together to prevent a nuclear conflict from occurring. It is their moral responsibility to do so. In a nuclear conflict there will be no winners. Humanity will be the losers — big time.
