Dear Editor:
In view of the Mets’ willingness to negotiate a deal with Major Soccer League for use of Citi Field, stopping the usurpation of public parkland in Flushing Meadows Corona Park for a soccer stadium is a no-brainer (“Mets’ door open to Citi share with MLS,” Jan. 10, multiple editions).
The ball is now in the MLS’s court, and if it is not interested, like all other private for-profit businesses, it is free to look for property in the open market.
Any elected official or anyone seeking public office in the coming election who continues to support the ongoing desecration of FMCP by supporting MLS in the park is likewise a no-brainer and should be denied public office.
