Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Whitestone) announced over the weekend that he is taking a temporary leave of absence to have surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.
In a letter to constituents, Halloran said the tumor was discovered in March and that surgeons will remove it on Wednesday. He will remain in the hospital for the rest of the week.
The councilman expects to then recuperate at home and be back at work in two weeks. He said it would not affect his plans to run for the new 6th Congressional District in the fall.
The tumor, Halloran indicated, hasn’t slowed him down. “Nothing can,” he said. “
In the meantime, I ask for your thoughts during these next two weeks and welcome the prayers and well-wishes of those who have expressed their concern,” Halloran added.
