At noon on Saturday people descended on Studio Square, an Astoria bar, to begin the metamorphosis from human to zombie. It was all a part of the incredibly free Queens Thanksgiving Zombie Walk 2012. The face paint was free, as well as the expert painters who helped about a hundred people transform into their undead personas with blood-oozing fake gashes. (However, the beer wasn’t free, because apparently even zombies get thirsty.)
Dipu Kundu, from Manhattan, and Rebecca Gianfortune, from Astoria, found the zombie walk through the website Meetup.com, which teams people up with other individuals with similar interests.
Rachel Gonzalez attended the second annual Queens Thanksgiving Zombie walk on her ninth birthday.
Zombies mingled and drank beer at Studio Square before the start of the walk.
