Sunnyside shows patriotism on Flag Day

by Josey Bartlett Associate Editor

Community members of all ages and positions turned out for the annual Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside Flag Day parade on June 9. Marc Crawford Leavitt, a Democrat who ran for Queens boroughpresident in 2009, played the flute. Many schools marched the route waving flags. Members of the South Korean Navy shook hands with Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, Bronx) and many more participated in and watched the fun weekend event. The marchers traveled down Greenpoint Avenue starting on 41st Street.
