Oh, Christmas tree

With Halloween and Thanksgiving comfortably in the past, Queens last week began celebrating the coming Christmas season in earnest, with hundreds of people attending numerous tree-lighting ceremonies in anticipation of the big day.
And Santa’s schedule was a hectic one. Middle Village celebrated on the campus of Christ the King Regional High School on Metropolitan Avenue on Thursday, Dec. 1.
On Friday St. Nick was the guest of the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce for ceremonies at Maspeth Memorial Square. St. Nick passed on his reindeer and sleigh, traveling instead with the FDNY’s Squad 288 for an evening of song and dance.
On Saturday he was at Myrtle Avenue and Union Turnpike with the Ridgewood, Glendale and Middle Village Lions clubs.
