Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas (D-Astoria) hosted the winners of the Women’s History Month Art Contest on July 24.

Each year, Simotas encourages elementary school students to showcase important women in New York history through their artwork.

About a dozen Astoria kids were selected from more than 100 participants and were invited for cupcakes and brownies baked by the assemblywoman and shared what they learned about women’s history.

The winners’ work will also be featured on the cover of next year’s contest packet.

Welcome to the discussion.
