Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2813 in Woodside paid a visit to fellow former service members undergoing rehabilitation at the Queens Boulevard Extended Care Center before New Year’s.

Anthony Matesse, the center’s therapeutic director, took the opportunity to thank the veterans for their visit and introduced them to recreation therapists Felicia Buttler and Cheryl Gadsden.

Buttler and Gadsden escorted the delegation to different floors to meet with veterans and other patients, giving everyone a chance to exchange stories of their time in the military and assuring the patients that their service was not forgotten.

At the top are Buttler, left, Gadsden, Mike Smith, the VFW post’s senior vice commander, and Jerry Sisco, the commander.

Above, the delegation included Jerry Olt, left, who was a patient at the center a few months ago, post Trustee John Donnelly and Mike Smith, a senior vice commander.
