Sky View Center, Flushing’s new 800,000-square-foot shopping center, presented the New York based power-pop band, The Jimmies last Saturday.
Energetic concert goers created a line outside the shopping center hours before the concert was to begin to see the award-winning band perform. Over 250 visitors filled the Sky View Center lower lobby and jammed to The Jimmies’ upbeat tunes. The group performed two 45-minute sets for the crowd, and lead singer Ashley Albert even went into the audience to hang with the attendees.
This week’s event on Saturday, Nov. 27at noon,is Dikki’s Wacky Magic Show from the Big Apple Circus. The circus extravaganza features a combination of new and old magic for all ages.
Jumpstarting the 2010 holiday shopping season, center, Sky View Center will mark its first Black Friday with early store openings and doorbuster specials.With an impressive blend of national retailers, shoppers can experience everything the center has to offer including Best Buy, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Bob’s Discount Furniture, Marshalls, Target (including a Starbucks and Pizza Hut Express), and Old Navy. Bed Bath and Beyond will celebrate its official grand opening on Black Friday and Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, and Chuck E. Cheese’s are expected to open by the end of the year.
Black Friday also marks the official launch of Sky View Center’s Passport Program. Travel around the center and have your “Passport” stamped by all of the retailers to win retailer gift certificates and prizes.
Shoppers will also be able to take advantage of the extended hours at some of the retailers including Bob’s Discount Furniture and Marshalls, and will enjoy two hours of free parking.
