Police believe they have leads for two suspects in the brutal murder of an elderly shop owner in Corona. The suspects are not in custody.

Damaso Llano, 89, was found bound by plastic ties in his apartment on 43rd Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. on March 26.

Video footage from 8:10 p.m. on March 25, right, shows two men walking around Llano’s building. Llano was a co-owner of El Mundo Supermarket.

Longtime neighbor Lucy Schilero said the man liked to go to Atlantic City on Sundays and was returning from the trip.

NYPD reports say the suspects entered his house, bound his arms and beat him on the face. According to Schilero, who spoke to other tenants in Llano’s building, no one heard anything the night of the murder and therefore neighbors suspect the men knew him, she said.

“It shocked us that these people probably knew him well and that it was so quiet,” Schilero said. “I hope the suspects are the gentlemen that did this, so neighbors and family members can have some closure. It’s very, very concerning he went the way he did. He should have gone peacefully.”

Anyone with information about the two suspects can call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips by logging onto nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577. All tips are kept strictly confidential.
