Last Thursday afternoon a thick cloud of smoke covered a several-block area of southeastern Long Island City, snaking down Dutch Kills Creek and causing some drivers to pull over to the side, but it turned out to be really not much more than smoke.

According to the Fire Department the smoke was caused when water doused a rubbish fire on a large lot at 30-27 Greenpoint Ave.

The Fire Department received a significant number of calls about the incident, but by the time the smoke dissipated, no damage or injuries had been caused.
