The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying two armed men who committed a robbery in which one person was shot on Aug. 2 in Jackson Heights.
Police in the 115th Precinct said the two men both knocked on the door to a basement apartment and identified themselves as police officers.
When a man answered the door and let them in, they tied one man, 35, with zip ties. A second victim, 26, got into a struggle with one of the gunmen and was shot in his left leg. He was hospitalized after the gunmen fled empty-handed.
Police said the two robbers are believed to have been among four suspects who participated in another robbery in Jackson Heights on July 23. In that incident, four men, one with a black handgun, entered an unlocked basement apartment, stealing money and jewelry.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public also can submit tips by logging onto nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577. All tips are strictly confidential.
