The Queensbridge park house, just north of Queensboro Bridge off Vernon Boulevard, will be getting a face lift.

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside) secured $2.5 million to completely renovate and restore the facility whose roof has become fertile soil for weeds and has sat vacant for years.

To start the process the city Parks Department will hold a public scoping meeting to gather input on what amenities are desired. No date has been announced.

Some possible improvements could include a comfort station, storage space for the athletic teams that use the playfields year round and office space for Parks Department staff.

“It is extremely important that every single senior and child who lives in Queensbridge know that our city has allocated every single cent we could to make sure that Western Queens has a park that rivals Central Park in Manhattan or any other park in the City of New York,” Van Bramer said. “Queensbridge Park is a jewel within Western Queens.”
