A 7-year-old student of PS 92, Harry T. Senior, successfully fought off a kidnapper on the morning of May 29. The student did not come forward with his story until last Friday, three days after the incident, according to Principal Pasquale Baratta.

Police are searching for the suspect, Mark Synclair, 33.

“From what I understand, he’s a repeat offender,” Baratta said.

The boy was walking to school at 8:15 a.m. when Synclair allegedly tried to snatch him about a block and a half away from his school in Corona. The victim escaped without any injuries. More safety agents will be patrolling the neighborhood close to PS 92, according to Baratta.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477).The public can also submit tips by logging onto nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577. All tips are strictly confidential.
