Monday’s strong winds took their toll on Jackson Heights at about 11:30 a.m., when this tree came down and knocked into the six-story building at 34-41 85 Street. The damage was minor, with several windows knocked out up to the fourth floor. The building is under renovation, and the tree also caused part of the scaffolding in front to collapse. But the scaffolding might have saved the building and some cars from any further damage. Only one car in the street was damaged and no one was injured. FDNY Ladder Co. 154 responded.
