The Global Supermarket in Jackson Heights has a bit of a rat problem.

Since January, union workers of Local 338 and Local 342 have been protesting Mohammad Haque, the store’s owner, for not rehiring employees who were fired two weeks before Christmas when the then-Trade Fair was unexpectedly sold to Haque.

Along with the rat, at least one union rep paces in front of the Global Supermarket door, handing out fliers and attempting to dissuade people from patronizing the store.

Haque and other store representatives have said in the past any former Trade Fair employee is welcome to reapply for work, but there are no guaranteed spots.

Welcome to the discussion.
