The Girl Scouts of Hunters Point Middle School in Long Island City got to experience life in the great outdoors in Upstate New York on Monday.

“I grabbed the worm and hooked it on the line and touched the fish and everything,” said Ianah Banta, 12, of Woodside, shown top left, with Aayusha Duwadi of Sunnyside.

The girls also partake in the Girl Scouts’ Career Exploration Program, which reaches out to girls and exposes them to a variety of career possibilities and lifestyles. Fifteen girls signed up for the program.

Above, Emani Flemming shows off her fresh catch of the day at the Girls Scouts’ CEP camp.

Welcome to the discussion.
