Business owners are beginning repairs after a four-alarm fire tore through a group of conjoined storefronts in Corona late Sunday night.

The fire ignited at the Church of God in Christ International at 104-15 Northern Blvd. around 9:30 p.m., according to FDNY.

More than 120 firefighters fought the blaze for four hours, reports said. One firefighter sustained a neck injury. No one else was injured.

The flames began in the church, which was destroyed, and spread down the block to Church of Christ Baptist and Lospinos Lounge.

The vacant business on the corner of 104th Steet and Northern Boulevard was not damaged by the fire, said the owner of that section of the block who goes by Manny. He would not give his last name.

“I have to get permits and inspected before I can operate again,” said Manny, who was repairing his building’s door on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters knocked down the door on the night of the fire.

Police still had barricaded the sidewalk in front of the businesses on Tuesday afternoon and had an officer assigned to the scene.

“We want to make sure no one gets hurt by falling stuff,” he said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

“The fire marshal said the investigation could take weeks,” the officer said.

Welcome to the discussion.
