A recently discovered cemetery holding victims from the Irish famine was honored by the Queens County Ancient Order of Hibernians on Saturday.
Community members laid a wreath made of flowers donning the Irish flag colors and said a brief prayer honoring those who died during the famine.
The cemetery was found on the grounds of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, located at the intersection of 21st Street and 26th Avenue in Astoria.
