Friends of Gantry Plaza State Park, along the Long Island City shoreline of the East River Raritan Bay Estuary, participated in the statewide I Love My Park Day last Saturday.
Gov Cuomo officially proclaimed the day the first annual park beautification day. Parks all over the state invited volunteers to spruce up their areas
Members of various groups came to participate in the spring makeover in LIC, pulling weeds, pruning bushes and spreading mulch.
“I just thought it was a great thing to do,” said Denise Matis of Sunnyside.
“We wanted to do something different,” said JoAnn Fink and her daughter from Long Island.
