The huge white tent brimmed with people munching on delicious treats from local restaurants and sipping on a full selection of drinks at the seventh annual Taste of LIC, held at Gantry State Park on Tuesday night.
Proceeds from the $50-to-$150 per ticket benefit The Chocolate Factory’s next season of dance, theater and music. The theater raised about $100,000, according to artistic director, Brian Rogers.
“This is the biggest tent I’ve ever seen,” Borough President Helen Marshall said. “Everyone will be leaving a few pounds heavier,” she added with a laugh.
“They manage to top their event each year,” said longtime Chocolate Factory supporter Edward Lopez.
‘This is a great event — the food, the attitude,” Terry Tucker with Harpoon Brewery said.
Foodies grabbed shrimp on sugarcane skewers from Manducatis Rustica, blueberry kombucha from Beyond Kombucha, golden gazpacho from LIC Market and beer-and-pretzel flavored marshmallows from Mitchmallows, just to name a few tasty treats.
