Last year there was some hope the Macy’s July 4 fireworks show would start alternating between the Hudson, where it moved in 2009, and the East rivers, but that has not been the case.
This Fourth Queens residents were lucky to see snippets of pink, blue, green and gold peeking out from the Manhattan skyline.
“They said they would consider it, but I could tell from their attitude we’ll be waiting until 2076,” said Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Astoria). Vallone met with the retailer last year with Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, who circulated a petition.
Macy’s representatives cited fewer bridges and the river’s width as reasons to pick the Hudson.
