The Center of Hope International church in Long Island City on Sunday received a $1,500 donation from FreshDirect on behalf of Queens resident William Collier.

As part of the company’s “Heroes” campaign, FreshDirect has selected four outstanding employees, including Collier, whose personal drive and commitment to community service make them an inspiration to their co-workers and peers.

When Collier isn’t at work in the company’s freezer department, he serves as deacon at Center of Hope International. FreshDirect’s donation will go directly to the church’s International Bread of Life Food Pantry, providing around 6 weeks worth of groceries to Queens residents who are in need of fresh, healthy foods this winter.

Above, FreshDirect employees present a check to Bishop Mitchell Taylor of Center of Hope International.

Welcome to the discussion.
