More than 200 children from the Astoria Houses attended a Christmas party and toy giveaway last Friday.
The majority of the presents were purchased at local stores, according to Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Astoria), center. Donations were made by Quontic Bank, SingleCut Brewery and residents of Astoria.
“The generosity of the Astoria community never ceases to astound me,” Vallone said.
Here Vallone and Claudia Coger, president of the Astoria Houses Tenants Association, left, and Bishop Mitchell Taylor, executive director and founder of the East River Development Alliance, were joined by Santa Claus and children from the Astoria Houses.
